UNIPROM - Bauxite mining

"BOROVNIK" RED BAUXITE BEARING

Basic geological research was carried out on this deposit in 1972-1989. years. A total of 31 wells with a total length of 8,737 meters were drilled. On that occasion, two ore bodies of red bauxite, Borovnik and Borovnik 2, were found at a depth below 200 meters.
The potential exploration area defined by the Concession Agreement amounts to 2.04 km2.
The Borovnik ore body is irregularly shaped, 300 m long and 140 to 200 m wide. The area of the ore body is about 40,000 m2. Its average thickness is 8.24m. At a slight angle to the NE, the ore body falls, between isohpsis 1330 and 1300 masl.
Red bauxite reserves of 850,000 tons of red bauxite with medium contents: 60.43% Al2O3 and 2.94% SiO2 were calculated at the Borovnik deposit.
Reserves have not been calculated for the Borovnik II ore body, but based on the available data, the reserves are assumed to be around 2.5 million tons.
For the Borovnik deposit, a detailed geological research project was carried out, according to which the reserves and quality of red bauxite will be defined in more detail through a combination of exploratory drilling and the construction of exploratory corridors.
In total, about 4,000 meters of exploratory boreholes and 5,200 meters of exploratory corridors are planned.
The value of the planned works with detailed chemical and mineralogical tests is around 9 million euros.
