UNIPROM - Bauxite mining
"ŠTITOVO II" RED BAUXITE BEARING
Production at this deposit was started in 2006 when the mine was owned by the state until 2016 when production was taken over by Uniprom-metali doo. From the start of production until today, a total of 1 million tons of red bauxite have been mined from the Štitovo II deposit.
On this deposit, as a subcontractor, the company Zemljekop Engineering from Bosnia and Herzegovina, which employs about 25 workers, is performing the work.
Description of the bearing
The ore body is 650 m long, while its width varies from 15 m in the western part to 350 m in the eastern part. The main direction of the ore body is east-west, and it lies at a slight angle to the north-northeast.
The highest elevation of the deposit in the roof is at its extreme western part and is 1,480 m, and the lowest is 1,385 m.
Results of laboratory tests
Based on the obtained data, the average chemical content of the analyzed components in the deposit amounts to:
Al2O3 = 53.51%; SiO2 = 11.89%; Fe2O3 = 18.93%; TiO2 = 2.56%; CaO = 0.50% and G.Ž. = 12.39%.
The total mineral composition of both the main and secondary minerals in the red bauxite samples from this deposit is as follows:
boehmite – 50.85%; kaolinite -26.73%, hematite -18.08%; calcite – 2.45% and anatase – 2.74%.
Based on the mineral composition, the red bauxite of the "Štitovo II" deposit belongs to the boehmite type of bauxite. From the geochemical aspect, the red bauxite of the "Štitovo II" deposit is characterized by the presence of the following trace elements (in ppm):
Pb – 70, Ga – 50, V – 300, Cu – 70, Y – 45, Zn – 95, Zr – 300, Ni – 300, Co – 35, Sc – 26, Cr – 400, La – 180, Ba- 20, Sr – 30, Li – 55, Rb-30, U – 7 and Th – 37 ppm.
