Cast house

Liquid metal from Smelter is transported to the Casthouse in specially constructed crucibles.

Prior to being transported to the Casthouse, the crucibles are taken to the facility where separated dross is mechanically skimmed.

Liquid metal is discharged from crucible into burner furnaces - there are 11 such furnaces in the Casthouse – in which metal is treated by refiner and degasser with the purpose of removing solid and gas admixtures.

Following the treatment, metal is charged to the holding furnace serving for casting of certain products.

After being subcooled, the dross from burner furnaces is sent to the Secondary Smelter.

Dross processing results with grains containing around 80% of aluminum. Chips generated during ingot cutting is baled and then melted in the Secondary Smelter.
